The Devil explores the toxic patterns and attachments that can slowly take hold in our lives. Sometimes they begin beautifully, with something charming, comforting, or rewarding, until we eventually realize that what once made us happy now leaves us feeling trapped. My interpretation of this card focuses on personal power and autonomy, and the realization that sometimes the chains holding us aren't locked. We may have more ability to change our circumstances than we realize.
 
The Devil asks us to look honestly at the different facets of our lives and recognize what is weighing us down. Whether it's a relationship, habit, career, or something else, acknowledging what is making us unhappy is the first step toward finding a way forward. And when breaking those chains isn't something you can do alone, there is no shame in seeking help and building a support system.
