Like The Plagues, this series began with a conversation between Jessica and her father about religion and the imagery surrounding it. This time, the discussion turned to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and a deceptively simple question: what, exactly, are they?

Are the Horsemen angels, demons, or something else entirely? Do they herald the coming of the apocalypse, acting as messengers of what is already approaching, or are they themselves the source of the calamities that follow them?

The distinction changes how they might be imagined. Heralds are traditionally messengers, often associated with angels, while creatures that bring war, famine, pestilence, and death seem far more ominous.

This series explores the first possibility, reimagining the Four Horsemen as angels and considering what these apocalyptic figures might look like if they were divine messengers rather than monsters.
